Boutique hotels in Lagos and Nigeria: houses, not towers

Lagos hospitality has quietly moved from towers to houses. The most interesting rooms in the city are in converted residences in Ikoyi and old print buildings in Yaba, run by founders who care as much about the art and the playlist as the mattress.

01

Ikoyi and Victoria Island

Calm, green, walkable by Lagos standards, and close to the restaurants that put the city on food lists. Ask about generator and water arrangements, good small hotels answer this well.

02

Yaba and the mainland

Cheaper, younger, closer to the studios and galleries. Worth it if your reason for coming is culture rather than meetings.

03

Coast

Tarkwa Bay and the barrier islands are a boat ride from the city, a genuine reset without a domestic flight.

Cities in this guide: Lagos, Ikoyi, Tarkwa Bay. More writing on the cities we work in is in the journal.
